Background

Virus-like particles (VLPs) are nanostructures formed spontaneously by the self-assembly of viral capsid proteins. The VLPs contain viral structure proteins as an empty multi-protein shell without viral genetic materials. Due to the absence of the genetic material, VLPs are replication‐ and infection‐incompetent. VLPs possess diverse applications in specific antigen and membrane protein presentations for therapeutics, immunization and bioassays. The null VLP doesn’t contain the specific target protein and serves as the negative control for various applications.
