Background

Claudin 18.2, also known as CLDN18.2, is an integral membrane protein with 4 transmembrane domains, two extracellular loops, two intracellular loops, both N-terminus and C-terminus ends towards the cytosol. Human Claudin 18 is a member of Claudin protein family and involved in tight junction and cell-to-cell adhesion. Claudin 18.2 is not expressed in any healthy tissues with the exception of gastric mucosa. It is highly and widely expressed on various tumor cells including gastric cancer and pancreatic cancer. Claudin 18.2 plays critical role in cancer initiation and progression, and is a promising target for cancer therapeutics.
